A Few Things To Share

I have good news!! I think be the end of this week we should be ready to post before/after photos of the house!! Ceeeelebrate good times, come on! (Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah!)

I've been waiting until we had all the baseboards and moldings in and painted because it makes a huge difference in how the house looks. We are about 90% done with them so pictures should be coming soon. Stay tuned.

In the meantime, let's review the week:

I made a huge long post on Instagram about how sweet and tender Kennedy is. She really is such a great helper and always wants to make others happy. She is such an example to me of the pure love of Christ. In this picture she's helping B wash her hands (without being asked) and patiently walked her through every step and congratulated her on a job well done. It was the sweetest thing!!

I think Tasty and I will be lovers forever, because I have yet to try and recipe from their videos that I haven't liked. Last week we tried the taco cups and they literally rocked my world! It's just ground beef, taco seasoning, and diced tomatoes and green chilis and topped with cheese. I just threw in a can of Rotel since it already has both tomatoes and green chilis in them. Top with sour cream and you have an amazing dinner! I'm making these again this week and I'm going to get a little crazy and try some olives on top, as well.

I guess this would be a good time to point out that I REALLY like sour cream with my Mexican food. Like, a lot. That's why we've since switched to plain Greek yogurt, so I can still have my indulgence but make it healthier. There's just something about the cool, creaminess with the Mexican flavor. It speaks to my soul.

I came across this bush the other day and I felt like it was giving me a bunch of middle fingers. Am I wrong?

After my long post about K on social media I felt that I needed to balance things out and write one about B, too. I snapped this sweet picture of her adorable profile:

And as I was thinking what to say, we discovered that little missy had taken a rock to our countertops and chipped the living crap out of them!!

Cory and I were so furious!!! I still am! Mostly I'm mad that we didn't know we were buying marble and that it doesn't stand up well to wear and tear. But also mad that we've been in our house 6 weeks and she has already managed to ruin one of the most expensive things we put in.

However, we still love her. She's still super hilarious and sweet when she wants to be. She's teaching us a ton of patience and adds a lot of spice to our family.

This past week Kennedy also had her kindergarten program. I didn't get a single picture of her during it for two reasons: 1) we could barely see her 2) she didn't participate in the program AT ALL! She sat on the stage the entire time looking like she was going to cry. I think being in front of a lot of people scares her more than we know. I was hopeful this wouldn't happen this year, but I also wasn't surprised.

But I had to remind myself that just because she didn't sing anything or recite anything, doesn't mean she didn't learn it.

I finally had the energy to clean out Baby Logan's room as well! It was becoming that place in everyone's house where you just shove stuff you don't want to deal with at the moment until it becomes a mountain of junk that could swallow you whole. But it's cleaner now. And we set up the crib! Yay!

It was weird setting it up for the final time. I really can't put it into words, mostly because it wasn't at all sad for me and I don't know how to make that make sense to those who don't get that without sounding like I'm ungrateful to have this baby, and I'm not ungrateful. Quite the opposite. But I am ready to be done. I guess that's the best way to put it.

Eventually we will get around to painting and decorating the nursery. It just hasn't been a big priority yet.

And one more project to share for you all...

I've had the plans for these shelves saved for a long time. I got them off Shanty 2 Chic and was just waiting for the chance to make them and put them up somewhere. Yesterday, with some of Cory's help, I finally got them up. And guys, I am IN LOVE!! They look so good!!

You can't really tell how big and chunky they are from that angle so here's another one.

They were fairly easy to assemble. Our struggle was hanging them since they're on an outside wall that is cinderblock and doesn't have studs to screw the anchors into. But we made it work. Slowly but surely our house is becoming a home.

That's all I've got for you today. I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

See you, soon!
