Brynlie's Second Birthday

I feel like I should be writing something cliché like, "I can't believe my baby is 2! She needs to stop growing up so fast!"

The truth is, I can believe Brynlie is two and I'm perfectly fine with her getting older. Brynlie has literally been challenging since conception. Her pregnancy was extremely painful and complicated. The delivery was painful. She was colicky. She had reflux. She has the temper of The Hulk and can lose it on a dime. She's extremely curious and constantly into everything and has a gift for finding the most dangerous, irreversible way to do/ruin/break something. She runs away from me in public places and never turns around to see if I'm following her. And then she will turn around and be so clingy not even Cory can hold her. She throws epic temper tantrums with blood curdling screams, throwing and breaking things, and sometimes even injuring herself. She's either grumpy or upset about something, or super cute. There's no middle ground with her. And lately she's been more grumpy than anything else.

However, with all of the truth being spoken, she does have a very sweet side. She loves animals and is very tender and loving with them, especially Tommy. She adores Kennedy and copies everything she does and followers her around like a puppy dog. She is totally hilarious and keeps us laughing almost every day. Brynlie has a ton of spunk and isn't afraid to try things. She also cuddles with me almost every day, which I just soak up. My favorite is when I pick her up and she lays her head on my shoulder and whimpers while I comfort her. She has THE BEST facial expressions and isn't afraid to let you know how she feels about something.

She's saying new words every day and trying so hard to communicate. I'm hoping once that area is easier in life that the tantrums will decrease. I always talk about her being hard and joke about her being evil, but if she ever reads this, I want her to know that she is anything but evil inside. I know that all these challenges with her will subside someday. I know she will always be dramatic and have her moments, but so can I. Even with all the ups and downs, we truly love her so, so much. She is such a precious addition to our family and I couldn't imagine our life without her. I'm excited for her to grow up so we can form a special bond like the one Kennedy and I keep strengthening as she gets older. I'm looking forward to a friendship with her along with being her parent. I'm excited for new adventures and to find out more about her and what she loves and is gifted in.

Brynlie is such a special addition to our family. It was so much fun celebrating her yesterday! So let's get on with that!

Since she doesn't really show much interest in anything but animals, I decided to throw her a safari/jungle themed party. Usually I keep younger birthdays pretty simple and low key since they won't remember them, but I just couldn't say no to all the adorable decorations on Amazon.
I took a Lortab in order to survive the party since my legs were KILLING me yesterday. I should have stretched more after the race. Anyway, that put me in good spirits.

Everyone wore an animal mask and I got to be the safari leader.

We invited our families and had pizza and talked before we opened presents.

The present opening was THE BEST! She was so into opening the gifts and LOVED everything she got (except clothes, she couldn't care less about those). When we told her she had another present to open she would gasp and look at us excitedly. Her attitude and reactions couldn't have been more adorable. I grouped photos together to prevent this post from containing 2,000 pictures. You're welcome.

After gifts we had cake and ice cream. She blew out her candles like a champ! Aren't the candles awesome? Even the cupcakes had animal print papers on them.
Everyone had so much fun! It was definitely one of our more successful parties we've had. I'm grateful to everyone who came and showed her some love on her special day. She woke up super bummed the decorations were all taken down, but I saved them, so if you wanna throw a safari birthday just let me know; I have all the stuff!

Yesterday was just an all around great day; from 2:50 a.m. all the way to 10:30 p.m. when I finally went to bed. I love my family so much and I'm grateful for this wonderful life we have. See you soon!
