The Rest Of Our Memorial Day

Cory had to work Sunday and today and Kennedy was having a blast at the ranch, so on a whim I decided to head up to East Canyon with Brynlie and stay overnight with my parents who were camping up there. I have to say, it felt weird with just B and I. But it was also really great. I think she and I really needed the time together. We never really get that.

We didn't do anything super stimulating but we did have a good, relaxing time just enjoying nature.
All Brynlie wanted to do was throw rocks in the lake. I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with her arm.
Tommy had a blast actually getting to be a real dog.
And Brynlie got an unplanned shower
We had a roaring fire which yours truly chopped all the wood for, and started it without any issues. I felt pretty mountain man-ish.
We played games in our most raw attire (that hair...)
And raised cheers to the weekend
For having done nothing but relax the last couple days I am strangely exhausted. I hope getting back into my routine tomorrow will help.

Also, I have come down with an injury; a tragedy to any runner. I have self-diagnosed myself using google with Achilles tendinitis. It's the only thing I could find on Achilles' tendon pain from running, so let's roll with it. The worst part is, it means no running until it's healed. I'm going to ice, stretch, and roll the crap out of my calves in hopes that it's gone quickly. The last thing I need is an injury right now.

Well, I'm off to bed. Sorry for the boring post today. Tomorrow it's back to real life!! See you soon!

Part I: Day Two, The Ranch

I've divided tonight's post into two parts because I took a crap ton of pictures. So after you're done reading this post keep scrolling and read part one post. Sorry it's posted backwards...

The ranch

I love going to the ranch! I love the no cell service, I love that it's in the middle of nowhere, and I love how gorgeous it is.

Friday nights sunset
I especially love how much Cory loves it and now our girls. It's the perfect place to get away and be wild and free. It's also the perfect place for a run!
I got in 6 miles this morning with no one around but me and the cows. I wanted to go 8 but by mile 3 I was running past the pasture with the bulls and since I'm irrationally afraid of them, I turned around early. It was also a rough run. It was my first one since the marathon and my legs were sssllloooooowwwww moving. But I got it done and got to sing at the top of my lungs with headphones in while running and no one heard me. Perfection.

We spent our day taking naps, eating, mowing the lawn, fixing stuff around the property and riding the 4-wheelers, with a special ride along side Kennedy in her Jeep. She ate the whole thing up!

I even got a solo ride which was pretty darn fun, and needed since my only previous ride was limited to the jeeps max of 5mph.
Brynlie wanted to help so badly. Some day you'll be bigger little one, some day.
Cory, Brynlie, and myself had to leave after an early dinner because Cory has to work the rest of the weekend. We left Kennedy up there to enjoy the rest of the weekend with the family. She was so annoyed with how many times I hugged her and told her goodbye and that I love her. I actually bawled as we drove away. I'm not sure why I had such a hard time leaving her. I know I'm going to miss her a lot, even though it's only for a couple days, but I also know she's going to have tons of fun. She just brings so much happiness and sunshine into my life. Two more days and I'll have my little sidekick back. Until then I get some quality alone time with Brynlie, who was also super sad we left Kennedy. It broke my heart. I sure love those amazing girls of mine.

I have more fun plans for this Memorial weekend but you'll have to wait until Monday for those updates. Go enjoy your weekend as well. See you soon!!

Part II: Day One, Logan

We had plans to go to the Ranch overnight, but decided since we had the whole day free Friday, and everyone wouldn't be there until that evening, that we would take the really long way there and go to Logan and show the kids my old stomping grounds. These two got a little distracted while packing the car.
We stopped at Wal Mart to get some groceries and the girls some much cheaper Aggies shirts, and then we started at the Student Center
When I was going to school I always wanted to come back with my future kids, gets them tiny Aggies shirts, and go to a basketball game. The game will have to wait, but we completed everything else.
Logan is... Hard for me. I have so many great memories there and so many truly terrible ones. I chose to really focus on the good ones, which was pretty easy while watching the girls have so much fun on campus.

The only thing I really cared to see on campus was the "A" which was in a construction zone, but we got tons of pictures anyway.

Photography by Kennedy. I'm actually impressed!
Next we let the girls play and run around on the quad, which was completely deserted.
We had the whole place to ourselves.
I told Cory to do something silly to get them to smile. Apparently they thought I was talking to them.
Then Daddy joined in the fun.
I miss this building.
The flowers on campus were so pretty and smelled heavenly!!
Next we got back in the car just as the storm hit and headed towards Bear Lake. Isn't she so gorgeous?!
We stopped at Cafe Sab√≥r in Garden City. I love this place!! Although I forgot how massive the portion sizes are. These were the appetizer nachos.
I don't know what the deal is with me and nachos lately, but we cannot get enough of each other!! I tried to be good and ordered a salad. I didn't know it could feed a small army.
After dinner our last driving stretch was to the ranch. We got there and Kennedy came out of her skin with excitement! But then we saw that no one was there yet and we didn't have a key... So we pulled out the jeep and let the girls cruise around.
While we waited and watched.
It took Cory not even 5 minutes to notice two baby owls in the tree. They were so cute!!
Finally everyone else arrived and we got inside before the sun went down. We spent the night watching movies and then headed to bed at a decent hour. It was such a great day!

Sushi Makes Everything Better

I saw this today and literally LOL'd. I think all of us are feeling this way after Ogden.
I felt much better after posting my vent post last night. It felt good to get everything off my chest. And I fell asleep last night in prayer thanking Heavenly Father for everything I could possibly think of. And then I slept in until 8:30!! I definitely still have many stressors in my life, but I feel like I can handle it again. At least for a few more days. So let's get back to the nitty gritty.

Every time I hear my dad order a steak "well done" from now on I'm going to think of this. The redder the better!!
If you're not a local, you might not know that the angel Moroni got struck by lightening on the Bountiful Temple on Sunday.
I was home during the storm and the thunder was pretty darn intense. It did some damage to it as well. Crazy!!

Let's play "Who wore it best." In this case, it's these one of a kind, high-quality plastic princess dress up shoes. Are you ready? Here we go.
Brynlie
Kennedy
Kennedy gets mega points for incredibly adorable presentation. Brynlie looks like she's angry with me because she put them on her own feet. "What the hell are these doing on my feet, Mom?!" (Wouldn't be the first time)

I can't believe how grown up the girls are getting. We got Kennedy her own hydration pack for hiking. This is something we've wanted to get her for a long time but we couldn't justify $50+ when carrying a water bottle works just fine, plus all the packs were the same size as she was over the years. Now all the sudden they fit her! And thanks to an amazing sale and an even more amazing coupon at REI, we got a screaming deal on this.
It was supposed to be a birthday present but I couldn't wait! Besides, I want to go hiking before the end of June anyway. Now she and Doggy are all set!
My only regret is showing the girls the emergency whistle... If I were a dog my head would have exploded by now.

Today we went up to the house for a bit and I started to paint our doors!
Photo session on pause to give my squishy Boo some loves. Her soft cheeks are insanely addicting!!!
Another exciting thing happened today: the girls are now in bunk beds.
Kennedy has been sleeping on the bottom for a long time and Brynlie has been in her crib. She's been climbing out for quite some time now, so we decided we might as well have them bunk up together (see what I did there?) and get rid of the crib for some more space. Brynlie couldn't have cared less about this milestone, but Kennedy, however, was so excited to sleep on the top she changed herself into her jammies and tried to put herself to bed at 4pm.

Fun story about those stupid rails... They were supposed to be "easy". They weren't. I thought I could throw them on before Brynlies nap, but they ended up taking me over an hour. Brynlie missed her nap, I missed the run I was planning on, I was dripping sweat because those mattresses weigh about 100lbs each, and it was one of those projects where EVERYTHING goes wrong and NOTHING comes together like it's supposed to. I was yelling and cussing like crazy, so much I scared Brynlie. But Kennedy just sat and watched me and kept being my cheerleader saying things like, "I know you can do it, Mom! See, I knew that would work! This time will be good, Mom. You did that so well!" I'm telling you, I don't deserve her. She has the sweetest little soul.

Tonight I got to go out for a girls night to Happy Sumo with my wonderful friends! They were actually Cory's friends first, but once we started dating and got married I stole them because I'm way cooler. Sushi makes everything better! I got the Vegas Roll and the Sun n' Turf Roll and they were both amazing!
Sorry for the ghetto background, I'm just trying to protect my family and there was something identifiable in the background. I love these girls so much! They're like family to me.

Tomorrow we are heading to Logan to take a walk down memory lane and show the girls where I lived and went to school. I'm really excited and kind of nervous. Logan is bitter sweet for me. But I'm excited for family time!

See you soon!
