Day 9

Kennedy is the CREEPIEST sleeper!! If you're not a stranger to our blog then you've heard some stories of her sleep habits. The girl sleep walks, constantly moves around in her sleep, cries out, talks, sings, etc. She actually gives me bad anxiety. I never know what she's going to do. Lots of times I've rolled over in the middle of the night to her standing right by my bed just staring at me. It scares the living crap out of me every. Single. Time. And I never know if she's awake or asleep. She's a silent little ghost! But by far, the creepiest was when we went to check on her before we went to bed and she was sitting up in her bed, rocking back and forth, and humming. And she was sound asleep. Guys, it was straight out of a horror movie. I had trouble falling asleep after that one.

Last night we went to check on her (we aren't the only parents who check on their kids before retiring for the night, right?) and I thought we were going to have a repeat horror movie night. When we opened the door she moaned and slowly rose up to sitting position and then started moving her arms back and forth, like she was playing the piano or something.  We stifled laughs and Cory talked her back down to her pillow and we hurried out of her room so we could let our laughs loose. I wish I knew what she was dreaming about doing. I'm just waiting for the day when she escapes the house in her sleep. I don't think I'll ever have a worry-free night of sleep ever again.

I realized this morning that I'm still due for a Flavor God seasonings review. So let's get that out of the way.

I wanted to wait until I had used all of them before I gave you my opinion. The only one I haven't used yet is the lemon garlic, but we will be having that on our salmon tomorrow. So I will try and remember to let you know.

So far, I am LOVING these! The combo pack was $27.99 with free shipping and worth every penny. Oddly enough the only thing I haven't liked with it has been my eggs; which is what I was most excited to have them for. But that's alright. They have made everything else taste amazing. I always felt guilty roasting sweet potatoes or grilling chicken knowing I had cooked something healthy and then was seasoning it with things that were either loaded with sugar and preservatives, or didn't taste that great. I know, I sound like a hippie *wink* at least that's what my brother says. My brother who works for Whole Foods...

Anyway...

If you're concerned about keeping your food clean, on the Whole 30 bandwagon, a paleo person, or just want to try them, my opinion is they're fantastic! They don't give a huge punch of flavor like we're used to with store bought items so don't expect a seasoning party in your mouth, but it's close. Once you get used to the natural flavoring, it takes any food up about 3 notches.

Ok, on with everything else.

Something exciting happened today! I ordered carpet for the basement! I'm so excited to see how it looks. We just have some doors to finish painting this weekend and then we are ready for carpet and then this blasted project is done!!

We also had something super sad happen today. Kennedy has a stuffed dog that she literally carries with her everywhere! His name is "doggie." So creative. Anyway, she came up to me right before dinner with tears in her eyes cradling Doggy and said "Doggy is sad," and whimpered. I asked her why, and she suddenly started sobbing and said, "I don't know!" After a couple moments I got her to breathe a little and she said, "I miss Daddy!" And started crying hard again. I felt like someone reached into my chest and ripped my heart out. I held her while she cried and I texted Cory what was happening. After a phone call from him she settled down and went back to playing. But that was probably one of the saddest parenting moments I've had. That man and his girls, I tell ya. They're bonded in ways I don't understand.

I worked my butt off today doing house things so I don't have anything exciting to tell you or any funny stories. So I will leave you with the recipe for my absolute favorite protein shake. This isn't low in calories so I usually replace a meal with it. It tastes like heaven.  I've been making it for almost 3 years and haven't gotten sick of it. It keeps me full for hours and beats away the chocolate cravings. It's a pretty common mixture but in case you haven't tried this blend, do it!

Creamy Chocolate Protein Shake

1/2- 1 whole pre-sliced, frozen banana (I buy really small bananas so if I use a whole one, it's usually a shortie, otherwise I just use half of one)
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 teaspoon pure maple syrup
1/2 - 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (depending on how thick you like it)

Let me know if you try it. I look forward to having it every day!
