Beaming With Pride

Before we started this whole preschool thing Kennedy had no interest in drawing or art. She could kind of draw a circle but was really in to scribbling. Fast forward 4 months later and she is happily and proudly drawing this at home:
Top left is an egg with a face, bottom left is a happy snowman, the big one is a baby playing on a blanket with toys, and the bottom right is a cupcake with frosting and sprinkles.

I cried like a dork. I am so proud of her and how much progress she's made. I can't wait to see what happens by the end of the school year. I love my little smarty pants. It's been fun to hear and see what's been stuck inside her all this time.

Random Acts of Camera Roll

I've been a bad, bad blogger. In order to play catch up, let's take a trip through my camera roll...

I forgot to mention this kick-A present my mom gave us all for Christmas. It's a blanket and clearly has our family's pictures printed on it. It's awesome! It's also been thrown up on and washed and still looks fantastic!

Kennedy has been loving playing with her Jeep and trailer. This is probably completely pointless to everyone else to share but to me, doggy going glamping every day is super adorbs.

I was reminded why I shouldn't ever eat out. And the best part is I asked for extra tomatoes....

This babe's smile is the best! Even if you sometimes have to work pretty hard to get it out of her.

We went through Cory's baby book the other day and I got yet another reminder that our kids look absolutely nothing like me. The picture with Kennedy scares me the most. It's identical. Even their mouths are the same. I really did give birth to them, right?

Every once in a while I break down because I cannot get Kennedy to tell me anything about school. I have no idea what she does there because she refuses to say a word. I hate it. Please appreciate your conversations with your kids because some people don't get to have them. Anyway, the only thing she does show me is her artwork in her backpack and this was so cute!! I love that she gets to go to school 4 days a week, even though it makes our lives insanely busy. It's made a HUGE difference for her.

These two are seriously my world. Even when they make my world a living hell sometimes.

Brynlie LOVES popcorn. She still doesn't have any teeth so we give her tiny little pieces that she can gum but I like to think that she gets that from me :) junk food? Hell, yes!

Kennedy got a haircut!! I am OBSESSED with it! I'm kicking myself for not doing it sooner. It's so pretty and makes her look way older. And there's no more tears and fights when I have to brush her hair in the morning. It's been so pleasant she's even started asking me for "pony hair". (pony tail)

Brynlie turned 8 months old! She's toothless, crawling everywhere, annoying her sister, and just as beautiful as ever.

Scheels! I'm not sure what else we would do to waste our time during the winter months without this place.

Refueling after a whole day of crawling is super important.

I've used the bathroom with bigger audiences, but none have been this cute. It makes me feel like my toilet time is pretty impressive.

Seriously need to get to Moab soon. I don't know how to be ok with not having seen red rocks for over a year. It makes me sick.

I like this approach. Much easier. Watch out, friends.

I tried to pick some specific resolutions to work on this year that will not only improve my life, but the life of my family. These are in no particular order.

1. Instead of venting to my friends and family and finding my own way through tough things, I'm going to make the Lord my new best friend and guide me where I need to be. Whenever I feel the need to talk through something, I will get on my knees.

2. Take more pictures. I've SUCKED at this recently and I want to do better. Especially with getting myself in them so my kids have pictures with me and Cory.

3. Be positive. I feel like I'm always finding something to complain about and I want that to stop now. Hopefully this and #1 will coincide a bit.

4. Lose the remainder of the baby weight. I'm super proud of the progress I've made so far but have hit a snag with medication interference again so hopefully once we get that figured out I'll be home free. I have other fitness goals for 2015 as well but I'll talk about those as I hit them in the future.

5. Unplug and spend time with my girls. I am addicted to my phone and I want to be addicted to my kids.

6. Get out of debt. Yes, this is a goal we expect to accomplish in 2015. I'm sure there will be a big blog post on it when it happens.

So there you have it folks. Simple and precise. I'm excited for this year and all the fun memories we plan on making.

Ice Skating

Brynlie got sick New Year's Eve on the drive home from Cheyenne. But regardless of her being a sad zombie, we decided to go to the annual Hagloch ice skating anyway. We were really excited to see everyone! It's been way too long!

It was Kennedys first time ice skating. She kind of hated it at first but eventually got the hang of keeping her feet under her while being towed around by two adults. As a result of being one of those tow maters, I wasn't able to take very many pictures. But we got a couple.
After a few times around the rink she saw Papa fly by and said she wanted to go with him. This surprised me because kennedy has always been afraid of the men in our family. And she rarely lets them touch her. But recently she's been obsessed with Papa Hunter and I guess she decided he was more fun than I was. It was a precious moment!
After ice skating we had a soup buffet at the church and got to talk and mingle with family. I have always loved how selfless and accepting corys family is. They truly make me feel loved and special. Heaven is going to be awesome!

Cuteness and Crawling

Speaking of dogs (In my previous Cheyenne post), my dads guide dog, Tommy, loves my kids. He is particularly protective of Brynlie. He adores her!! These pictures were just too cute not to share.

Also, in the past couple weeks, Brynlie has officially become mobile! She rolls and army crawls and is trying her hardest to actually crawl. She gets in a few scoots and then resorts to army crawling the rest of the way. She has been all over the living room this morning! I bet she figures it out any day now.

Cheyenne, Wyoming

A few months ago my brother accepted a job opportunity that sent them back to live in Cheyenne. While we're excited for the prospects this gives him and his family, we obviously miss the crap out of them. The drive there is long and less than stellar, but they like it there and I do kind of envy their chance to grow closer as a family and how tight and strong living there makes them.

They weren't able to make it out for Christmas so we decided to come to them! Kennedy hadn't seen her cousins since they left and we were really excited to see them!

The drive there sucked. Bad. Wyoming always has wind and blows snow across the road. We also left the day of the really bad cold spell so it was FREEZING and the roads were iced over.

But it's also kind of beautiful when you're not fearing for your life...
I feel like I'm being a tad dramatic about the drive but it really was scary. We had several close calls where we lost traction but thankfully never spun out. There were half a dozen cars that had spun off the road or rolled on the last half of the drive, so the roads were pretty treacherous. But after 9 exhausting hours, we made it!!

Our first day there was a Sunday so went to sacrament meeting in their ward then hung out at their house and took an alarming amount of family photos:

Brock and Brynlie are adorable together. He loves her and she thought he was hilarious.

Brynlie and Britton got to meet again and play together. They were so cute!! At first Britton wasn't too sure about her
But then they warmed up and became buddies
And after a short time were even on the exact same wave length...
I wish I knew what was happening that disgusted them so much.

Some people took naps and read stories

Some cuddled
Of course there were light saber fights

pony playing
and an obscene amount of ipad playing

(see, I told you I had a million pictures! And it's just day one...)

But really, what else are you supposed to do on a Sunday when it is insanely cold?
and I mean cold
Like, REALLY cold...

Monday was still cold but alas, I have no picture to prove it haha. We decided to go to a movie and went to see Night at the Museum 3. It was a fun movie and the kids liked it. Even Brynlie enjoyed her first movie
We also went to breakfast that morning and did more sitting around but I figured 8 million pictures from day one was enough.

Tuesday we decided to go do some shopping. We went to Sportsmans Warehouse first to look at guns. While browsing the store though, Kennedy came across a small, pink, ice fishing pole and HAD to have it. She was so excited she found a "Kennedy pole" and when I told her to put it back she had a massive meltdown. I went and found Cory to tell him what had just happened and he being the sucker he is for his little girls, compromised with her and bought her a Barbie fishing pole instead. I swear, only our Kennedy would freak out over a fishing pole...
 But she was SOOOOO excited.
And now Cory can take her fishing when it gets warmer. That might be too cute to survive through.
Next we hit up the Frontier Mall to play in the play place and get our wiggles out. Daddy even gave the girls an extreme stroller ride.
Brynlie holding on to Kennedy is the most adorable thing.
They also have a pet store in the mall and we spent a lot of time playing with the puppies.

For those of you who were inquiring from my instagram, no, we didn't buy one. Getting a dog is part of our family plans one day when the timing is right.

We had a great time hanging out with my family. It was really hard to get back in the car and leave them. Thankfully the roads were clear and nice on the drive home so we got to shave about an hour off the time. Kennedy is already asking me when we can go back.
