Photo Highlights of 2008

2008 has been a big year for us! Here are some pictures to highlight some of the great things that have happened.

January 31st we got engaged. The night he asked me I didn't see it coming because it was after we went to President Hinckley's viewing. Cory didn't really have a plan either, but he had brought the ring just in case there was an opportunity. We walked around the temple after the viewing and we were the only 2 people there because it was like... 10 degrees. Anyway, we were talking about getting married there when he got down on his knee and asked me. It was magical!

In May, little Brock blessed Tyler and Tory. I don't have a newborn picture of him but this will have to do. He is the sweetest little boy. He is always smiling and just so happy and content! We're so blessed to have him in the family.

June - Collin came home from the Florida, Ft. Lauderdale mission. We were actually in the wrong terminal when his flight landed. So he got off the plane with other missionaries all excited and we were no where to be found. But we quickly found out where to go and we literally ran there. Collin saw me hauling butt down the CORRECT terminal and we ran at each other and hugged, just like in the movies...aw... Anyway, we're glad to have him back!!

June- I went through the temple for my first time. It was incredible and we attend often. There is no happier place than here.

June 26th, WE GOT MARRIED!! I keep wishing I could relive that day. It was so amazing. It was the best day of our lives.
October - we went to Moab. The weather was perfect and I actually got to drive a lot this time.
December - I was able to catch up and reunite with old friends. This one just barely cleared the 2008 category because it was taken last night haha.
It's been a great year. There have been some sad things about it as well, but I'm not going to dwell on those, obviously. Bring on 2009!!

A Much Needed Date

Tonight Cory and I were able to go on a date for the first time in a while. We were planning on spending the whole day on doing something fun, like going to Park City, but ended up watching the Simpsons and taking a nap. Anyway, we went to Applebee's for dinner and encountered a pretty bad waiter... I swear he was stoned. But then we went to see the lights at Temple Square. I agree with everyone else when they say the lights get worse every year. They've stopped decorating the huge trees. And my favorite huge pine tree that is on the south east corner of the temple wasn't decorated this year :(, But it was magical none the less. We took 7-11 hot chocolate with us and just had a great time. And we saw Ken Jennings, which was pretty funny. Tonight made me really grateful that we live so close to such an awesome place and I am still so happy that I married such an angel like Cory. Here are some pictures for you to enjoy. I was impressed my camera could take such decent ones of the temple. Sorry they're a tad blurry, it's hard to hold the camera perfectly still.

We'll Talk About it Later, Naked!

Wow! What a Christmas!! This Christmas was one of the best we've had in a long time. Tyler and Tory came out and it was so awesome to just hang out with them. The last time I saw Brock he was only a couple months old, so it was SO fun to see what he is like when he's not sleeping all the time. And Bradlee was a joy as always. We went sledding and played the Wii and just had a great time. We took all the weeks pictures on my Mom's camera and then all the sudden Friday night the memory card wigged out on us and we can't retrieve the pictures. We're going to take the card to Inkley's and hope that they can get them off, and if they can, I'll post them later. If they can't, I'll be REALLY bumbed but it was a great Christmas. We also got to go to a movie with Cory's family on Christmas day. I feel bad that we didn't get to spend much time with them this year, but I get to see Tyler's fam WAY less often so I guess there was a reason. But it was a fantastic weekend. Hopefully pictures will follow soon!

I probably wont post anything for a few more days because in a few hours we FINALLY get to have Tyler and Tory here. I've been long awaiting this moment. I haven't been able to hang out with just them without lots of distractions since... gosh. I don't even remember when. At least a year and a half. They were here for the wedding but we were gone on our honeymoon so we didn't get to hang out with them. I can't wait!! Anyway, I figured I'd better post a Christmas spirit blog now rather than later. I have been really excited for this year because it will be the first time we've had our whole family together in 3 years. I can't tell you how much that means to me.

I really wanted to write something about the Savior and about how he IS Christmas. I've spent the last few hours reading about his works and I feel so filled with a spirit of love and gratitude that I just can't seem to put it into words. I just hope everyone can remember the reason we are here and the sacrifice He made for us. We are so incredibly blessed. Merry Christmas everyone! Thanks for all you've done for Cory and I and I look forward to many more good things to come!

A Truly Wonderful Day

Today was one of the best days I've had in a long time. Cory and I woke up and had breakfast. Then I actually convinced him to go to the gym with me! I had a terrific workout and afterwords we played some racquet ball. We vowed that we need to be more active because we have so much fun. Then we set out to do our Christmas shopping. I do not recommend waiting until the Saturday before Christmas to go out. We went up to Layton, which was even more idiotic idea. I've never seen so many people in all my life. However, we were able to scores some awesome deals and check off just about everyone off our list. I can't wait for the family to open their gifts! While we were out and about, we also looked for stockings because we don't have any of our own yet. We went to Michaels and found stockings and things to decorate them with. So, we came home and decorated our stockings. I think they turned out pretty dang cute! And as much as I hate crafty stuff, we had a lot of fun making them together.

Then it was off to Fat Cats to bowl with family and friends. We had a lot of people from Cory's side of the fam and some of Dustin's friends (it was for his birthday). Cory's cousins are so much fun. I think everyone had a blast! It was such a fun day. It's been a while since Cory and I have been able to spend the whole day together. I finally have some pictures to post as well. I'm sorry some of them are crappy.

I found this Elmo key chain at Shopko for 50 cents. I LOVE Elmo so I bought it. It's now protecting my school keys.

Cory looks so cute in this picture! As does his stocking.

Both of ours on the fire place.

The only shot of me bowling.

Good News and Another Crazy Dream

I must be eating something weird because my mind is coming up with all sorts of crap while I sleep. The other night I had a dream that Cory and I and some other guys were up in Logan in the canyon. In this dream, we were all standing around when out of nowhere a HUGE cougar comes darting out of the bushes and starts to go after me. I take off, running with all my might and screaming bloody murder while all the guys just stand there. I saw a tiny hole in some really thick bushes and dove in. It cut up my face and stuff pretty bad. The cougar proceeds to rip the bushes apart trying to get at me. I'm curled up in a ball crying and screaming because I think I'm about to die. Then I woke up. I was literally in the fetal position and I couldn't move because my muscles were so tight and achey from all the fear and tension. It was one of the most terrifying dreams I have ever had. It sucked to say the least. It took about 10 minutes before I was relaxed enough to move and try to fall asleep again.

In lighter news, I got my grades back. I got a 3.5 this semester. I am pretty stoked!! Cory also got really good grades but I'm not sure what his GPA is yet. We just need to keep up the hard work and we'll be well on our way!

Funny Story

Last night I had a weird dream and in the middle of it, I sat straight up and said "If you're going to do that than you need to go to the back of the line!" I woke Cory up who mumbled "huh?" which pulled me out of my sleep enough to know I was dreaming and I could lay back down and everything would be fine. This morning I remembered I had sat up, And I knew I had a dream, but I couldn't remember details. Anyway, so I go to work this morning...
I was lining the kids up for afternoon recess and I started getting after them about using the bathroom during recess and not after. I told them we had LOTS of kids use the bathroom after recess yesterday. The line was quiet and finally one boy spoke up and said "no we didn't."..... Suddenly my dream came back to me. It was about kids not going to the bathroom and so many needed to go that I finally just took everyone down but they were really naughty the whole time. It had felt so real, I really thought we had bathroom problems yesterday. I apologized to them for being a crazy teacher. Haha I thought it was pretty funny.

Christmas Bargains

The past 24 hours or so haven't been the best, up until about an hour ago. I woke up earlier than I had hoped this morning, so I figured I'd better get out and get my Christmas shopping done for Cory. Today must be my lucky day because I found some REALLY good deals that I am really excited about. Even ones I never would have guessed. Cory is going to have a good Christmas this year. I just need to make sure I am very careful with hiding the evidence. I don't want these surprises spoiled. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

It's over!!!

Today is a happy day. The semester is finally over!! Cory's ended last Friday, I should have posted one for him too. But we're both relieved and are going to enjoy our break till spring semester starts. Something really irritating yet funny happened during my human anatomy final. The professor is a weirdo, and doesn't speak English very well. One of the questions on the test was asking how many membranes a specific cell had and the answers were this:
A) single membrane
b) one membrane
C) A or B
Obviously I was confused which one to circle so I went and asked him if it mattered which one we circled since they are all the same answer. All he said was, "which letter? Circle a letter."
It was annoying. Hopefully he marks all of them as right because I don't know how he could justify marking one wrong. Anyway, despite that, we're done. I have a week and a half left till I'm off work for 2 weeks! And 2 weeks more till Tyler and Tory come and visit. We're so excited to spend time with them!!

Christmas Photo's

I decided in the spirit of the season, I'd post our Christmas pictures that we have so far.

Our tree. Sorry it's so blurry, it's the best one we got

The ornament Shirleen gave me

We SO were not ready for this picture. I was supposed to kneeling by Cory but the flash went off anyway and Cory didn't want to take another one so... here you go :)

So I absolutely hate it when people put up irrelevant things on their blogs, but I couldn't help myself. I'm a nut about Wall-E and this was just too cute. It's for everyone who needs a smile today :)

I Am Really Lucky

I've been having a really hard time with a few things lately and as a result I've been under quite a bit of stress. Yesterday was a particularly hard day. It was an incredibly awful day at work, I'm talking just... UGH!!! I developed an excruciating headache towards the end of the day AND on top of all that, I hadn't had anything but water all day. It was so bad. When work finally ended, I walked to my car, got in and shut the door and just started to bawl. I cried the whole way home. When I walked in the door to our house, there stood Cory. It took him seconds to realize something was wrong. And he came to the rescue. I was just so exhausted and stressed out I just needed to cry and have someone hold me - and that's exactly what he did. Most guys try to "fix" their wives problems. But I realized how blessed I really am to have someone as amazing as him. He just knew that's what I needed and he did it lovingly. I married an angel. I am so lucky to be sealed to someone as amazing as him. I can't imagine losing him when we die. I love him with all that I am.

My Handyman

I've got to say, watching Cory play Nintendo is so funny. Cory is a problem Solver. If something is wrong, he fixes it and he keeps trying till the job is done. Such is the case with this. We pulled out my Nintendo 64 a few weeks ago and he's been playing Mario off and on. It's hilarious because on every star, he figures out how it's done and plays until he gets the star no matter how long it takes him. It's a riot!! And he almost never gets as frustrated as I can when I play that game. It's why I love him. I can't wait to see how he handles the Wii we might get for Christmas.

The Tree

Today was a pretty cool day. Cory and I are really excited to spend our first Christmas together as husband and wife. We put our tree up and decorated it together. We both grew up in families where decorating the tree was always a big deal, so doing it together was really special for both of us. And it turned out great. I took a picture but I know no one cares as much as we do so I wont bother putting it up. And for my birthday his mom gave me an ornament that says "our first Christmas 2008" on it. It's really cool. We love being married. It's awesome!!

At the close of this awesome day, I just wanted to reflect a little on a couple things. First off, I have so much to be thankful for. I have an amazing husband who I could go on and on about, but just know I love him deeply and I am eternally grateful for him. I'm grateful for my family, including in-laws and such. I'm grateful for incredible friends. I'm so happy and thankful for the gospel in our lives and the amazing blessings and happiness it brings. I can't imagine a life without it. I'm thankful for our education and smart heads on our shoulders. We're blessed to have a great place to live. I'm grateful to live in a free country where we are free to worship and express our opinions. We are so truly blessed. Each day is a gift and I'm so thankful to be alive.

Today was a wonderful day and we got to spend some great quality time with both our families. I'm so happy right now and I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving.

People are so weird. I used to think it would be fascinating to find out how the brain works and how thought processes...uh...process. But I realized today, that's impossible. Because there are plenty of people who clearly are not firing on all cylinders. They have their own playbook and that's all they can comprehend. Where do they come from?? How does that happen? Today I was driving on 47oo south going to school. There was a lady in front of me, and an old man in front of her. For no reason at all the old man slams on his brakes. I mean REALLY puts the pressure on. So she slams on her brakes and so do I. And what does she do? She turns around and starts flipping me off and yelling who knows what! Uh... sorry? Did I miss something there? How come being stuck behind a senile old man who can't drive is MY fault? Anyway, I get to class. My professor is super weird anyway, but there are about 10 of us there today. We had a test last time, so he takes out our tests and calls out our names to see who's there. Once he had a test of someone who was there, he would grade it, right there in front of everyone, then hand the test to us so we could see, then we had to give it back, then we could go home. First of all, I don't live close to campus. It takes me 20 minutes to get there. I drove 20 minutes to watch him grade tests? UGH!! Luckily mine was one of the first, so I got to leave. But I HATE driving all the way out there for 10 minutes of crap! Then, I go to Smith's to buy some cookie dough. I don't shop at Smith's so I didn't really know where to find the goods. I finally found it and started to walk over to it. Some brat who looked like she was 17 with 2 kids LITERALLY runs with her cart over to where I'm about to go and blocks my way while she compares every freaking tube of cookie dough. I just stood there and stared at her completely amazed. I mean she ran so hard her daughter fell over in the cart. I guess she got annoyed with me being in HER way because then she looked at me with the NASTIEST dirty look I've ever gotten, rolled her eyes, and kept on doing her thing. I was totally irritated at this point so I moved her cart, grabbed what I needed and walked away. It took me about 1.23 seconds to do that. But she HAD to be there first. Like I said, Some people really are special and I'm really really sick of running into them. Maybe as part of the Zoo upgrade we could put them all in a habitat and see what happens. I know I'd pay to see it!

Prep For Parenthood

I decided today that first grade is really going to gear me up for parenthood. Today we had a special assembly where a pianist came and played for the kids. It was a really cool one. Anyway, my favorite inquisitive girl was acting up during the assembly. She and I have a great relationship so I asked her to come sit on my lap to help her be quiet. She ran over excited and hopped up. She was really good for the rest of the time. However, during one particularly intense piece, I suddenly feel a little rumble on my lap...
I whispered in this girls ear, "did you just toot?" A huge grin formed on her face and she whispered back "sorry!" and laughed. I couldn't help myself, I just busted up. I guess that's a new one to add to the list because thank heavens, it certainly isn't everyday a first grader farts on me.

It's amazing to me how fast things can change. You really never can be ready for anything. The slightest hiccup and your plan is lost. That's been happening to us a lot lately it seems like. We plan for bills, and we have problems on our paychecks that need to be fixed. We plan for activities, and work schedules instantly change. We plan for the future, and some other element is suddenly thrown in. We plan to be together, and suddenly Family Guy is on and we end up sitting next to each other for hours, but not together. We plan for friends and... well... yeah. Things change. We plan for birthday and Christmas presents, and money is suddenly tighter than it used to be. It's been crazy! It's totally part of life and I know I need to shut up. It's just been a little annoying. I guess we've been having it coming to us. My friend asked me the other day if I agreed with most people when they say that the first year of marriage is hard. I disagreed, because so far, it's been great for us! I wont go into how nice it's been or anything, but maybe we are finally hitting our "first year trials." At least we're not fighting and/or annoyed with each other. In fact it seems our relationship grows stronger by the day. Which is a huge blessing. It does make handling these problems a little easier. And I need to be less selfish and learn to sacrifice some things. It does suck to sacrifice friends, future preparation, and time together. Some of those things we may never get back. But I guess that's just the way life goes sometimes. I just wish it wasn't happening around the Holidays.

The New Me!!

Well I did it. I decided I needed a change. I dyed my hair dark brown. I did it once my first year of college, but I did it from a box, so it was... not so good. This time I had my good friend Heather do it professionally. She did a wonderful job!! I LOVE it!! And Cory loves it too which was my biggest worry. These pictures are SO bad because my phone makes my face look weird but oh well. Here you go.

This is kind of a test to see how I do mobile blogging so bare with me. And it's an awesome picture

And So It Goes...

I have a lot on my mind. First, the good news. I shaved 30 seconds off my mile time today. I'm pretty excited because that's a big deal to me. I think I freaked out the guy running behind me because I was "vocally" thrilled. Anyway, I was just proud of myself :)

I keep growing more and more fearful as the world gets more uncertain. The events of the past week regarding politics has really triggered a constant churning in my stomach. I wouldn't go so far as to say that having Obama as a president will end our world. But it certainly wont help. I don't agree with his policies. He's promised a "perfect" nation, cutting taxes, giving the working man a break, making college virtually free, and allowing everyone and anyone to have health care. I believe he's outdone himself on his promises and I get so frustrated that our nation is so blind to the realities of how things work. I certainly don't know everything, but where is all the funding going to come from for these policies? I don't trust him. But I guess only time will tell. I hope he'll quickly realize how much devastation it would cause to end the war in Iraq. All we as citizens see is what the media chooses to show us. Our nation is exercising so much good. And it will all be lost. Men and women will have died to help save a nation that he will force us to abandon. I'm strongly and morally opposed to his views and philosophies on abortion. He will help bring forth many signs of the times, that's for sure. Oh, and for the record, I haven't even noticed that he is black, so why has everyone else? Why the crap does it matter?? We are a free nation and we all stand equally. I wont get into too much detail about this because it makes me so mad, but I hate the fact that some people only voted for him because he is black. Yeah, it's a big step for human rights... blah, blah, blah. Whether he's black or not we've still elected a man who will more than likely cause our nation some hurt. And in the words of my good friend Matt, "he's just as white as he is black."

The other crisis going on right now is the mayhem regarding proposition 8. Being a member of the Mormon faith, this issue instantly brings out my claws. U.S. citizens - who are angry that they are being robbed of their rights to marry partners of the same sex - are protesting the Church being involved in the election. Now hold on, isn't that robbing us, and the Church of their rights? Each person has the right to vote. Each member of the church has a right to vote. Church leaders have a RIGHT to counsel their members to choose what they believe to be righteous choices. MEMBERS IN CALIFORNIA HAD EVERY RIGHT TO VOTE YES. I also highly doubt that it was entirely members that caused the proposition to pass. It's not only Mormons who think gay marriage is wrong. But the protests and the ridicule the church has received on this has terrified me. It's dividing us as a states, and as a nation. It's angry people putting the blame on someone else. It scares me because it's the beginning of what I'm sure will escalate to further problems, requiring the Church to stand on it's own. These really are times that will try our faith. I personally am a little torn on the issue of gay marriage. The idea disgusts me, however I do believe that we as citizens have rights, and homosexuals are "technically" being robbed of that. But it is stated that marriage is between one man and one woman. It's a difficult, but in any case regarding same sex marriage I will oppose it. Because it's MY RIGHT to feel that it is wrong, and I'm going to exercise that right.

I'm scared and feeling uneasy about the direction the world is turning. But I guess my choice is to get as involved as I can, then buckle up and wait for the ride to be over.

A Little Bit of Life

I guess it's time I updated everyone on what's going on with us right now. Let's start with Cory.

Cory is still going strong with school. We discovered the program at Weber is AT LEAST another 4 years and they wont accept any of his credits from SLCC. We've both put a lot of thought and prayer into it, and Weber isn't feeling like the right choice right now. Which is good news and bad news. The good news is, he'll be done with school after the summer 09 semester. The bad news is, he wont be a rocket scientist :). He can start to find a good job after that which hopefully means I wont have to work full time anymore - at least once we decide to start having kids. Cory is still working part time across the street. They've worked really well with his schedule and the convenience of it being right there has been awesome. He's still the amazing, caring, incredible man I met way back in May of 07. I'm so lucky to have him.

I am still working at the school. This year has been a little more challenging than last year but great strides are being made by myself and the wonderful kids I get to teach. I also am lucky once again to work with another talented teacher who I learn a lot of techniques from. I am taking classes part time at SLCC. I've been debating about whether or not to finish up there. I'm hoping that once Cory is finished and is making more money and has a job with benefits that I can quit my job and find something part time at night and finish school on a full time schedule. It'll take me till penguins learn to fly before I get my degree at this part-time rate. Anyway my plan in the beginning was to do the pre-teacher program at SLCC then transfer to the U and do their education program. After thinking about it more, Weber has a much better education program than the U and it's cheaper. So now my choice consists of WHEN to transfer there. I guess if I can go full time I might as well transfer next fall. So yeah, when I know, you'll know.

We get to see each other a little more these days which is nice. We did get some news last night that added a lot of stress to our lives but, it's not permanent and we'll make it through. It's just another trial and we'll be fine. We're excited to spend Thanksgiving with Cory's family (hopefully in Burley at the Stokers but that's still up in the air) and are looking forward to Christmas being right around the corner. This is a wonderful time of year. We were at Wal Mart the other day walking through the Christmas decorations and we got all excited because we get to buy stockings for ourselves and our own Christmas decorations. We're so excited to spend our first Christmas together as companions. So yeah, life is going well. We're happy and healthy.

(something funny I heard today at school that I HAD to share, even if no one else laughs but my mom....
A girl in my class for some reason didn't know what Thanksgiving was and kept thinking it was Valentines day that was coming up. After explaining to her a million times it wasn't Valentines Day, another girl said "It's Thanksgiving!! It's where you eat Turkey for dinner. Then you eat it again for breakfast, then for lunch, then dinner again, and all you eat is turkey." It made me laugh because she said it with some resentment in her voice. I can totally relate because I HATE reheated meat and everything Thanksgiving break I wouldn't even bother to ask my mom what we were having for meals because I knew it would be left over Turkey... ick. It's only good when it's fresh off the bone :))

More Funny Quotes

I heard some hilarious things at school today and I just wanted to share...

"We should hold on to our books for 200 minutes!"
"200 minutes?! That's like 1o years!"
"yeah it is! . . . no wait . . . it's like . . . 2 years . . . yeah. It's 2 years."

Teacher: "In Egypt you had to be married to be a pharaoh. At what age do you think a person would be ready to get married?"
Student: "Either 23, 19, or 16."

I Wanna Pet the Kitty!

Well, tomorrow is Halloween - and there is no school. I was little bumbed because I love seeing the kids in their costumes. But the first grade decided that today we would have a "character dress up day" where they can dress up as a character in their curriculum. On the list was Puss in Boots. My original costume came with pink fuzzy boots, which I am crazy about by the way, so I decided to do my own "pink" version of puss in boots. However, I forgot to buy a hat and a cape so I just ended up being a cat. I found an awesome addition to the ensemble at a ghetto costume shop in Taylorsville, which gave me a furry head and hands. Now, only the first grade was dressing up, so it was kind of a shock to the rest of the school to see a pink fuzzy "cotton-candy" like cat walking down the hall. I got a lot of laughs and high-fives and "you like AWEEESSSOOMME!" yells. I am now formally known as Mrs. Pussy Cat. But I think my favorite thing was when I'd see the kindergarten. When they saw me, they would whisper and point "look at the kitty!" with a really excited voice. At the end of the day I heard one of the kindergartners ask her teacher where the kitty was... then she saw me and got all excited. It was hilarious. I generally get pretty embarrassed over stuff like this, but after a while I just told myself I needed to have fun with it. I'm glad I did. I decided to wear it to our Fall Festival/ Carnival tonight because I've set a standard for myself now and my other costume sucks haha. Anyway, it was pretty funny and I wanted to show you what all the fuss was about. Although I think most of the hype was over the fact that we got to dress up and none of the other grade did. Gotta love first grade :)

Oh yes, I had a tail! I can't count the number of times it was pulled...

Field Trip

Hello friends. First off, I want to apologize about my last post. I was feeling really frustrated and having a bad day and I just needed to get my feelings out. I hope no one thinks I hate my job. I love it. I just get down about it sometimes. But from now on, I'll keep that to myself.

Today was totally awesome. We had another field trip. We went to Thanksgiving Point and got to see/pet all the animals. Then we went to Cabela's. Field trips always exhaust me but they are so worth it. I really look forward to it because I can get to spend more time with the kids and develop better relationships with them. We also get to play around more without having to worry about always being quiet. So that made today a pretty good day so far. Then, at Cabela's, I ran into an old friend from college who I haven't seen since our first year up there. It was really good to see him again. It was pretty funny because when we recognized each other, he was like "give me a hug!" and a girl I had with me who asks questions about EVERYTHING was like:
"Do you know him?"
"Does he know you?"
" Do you love him?"
It was pretty funny.

Anyway, I'm glad today was a good day because I really have been stressed out and pretty cranky. I'm getting discouraged over a lot of things and I need to stop letting that eat at me. If only I was perfect....

Moab 08!!!!

Well, we're back from Moab. And WHAT A VACATION!!! It was so awesome. The weather was perfect, about 65 degrees the whole time. We had a campsite all to ourselves so we didn't have an noisy neighbors or generators to listen to. Cory and I arrived down there at about 6 pm on Wednesday. I was still feeling pretty sick so we cooked Spaghettios over an open fire, waited for the Schears and my family to arrive then headed straight for bed. Thursday morning we woke up and did a few 4x4 trails. First was Fins and Things. Mandie's boyfriend Chase came with us in his 4-runner and he was a newbie so we had to break him in. He did really well. Cory even let me drive some of the really cool parts. Then we went and did some of Porcupine Rim, but we didn't get too far because the sun was starting to set. We did however get to an awesome overlook just in time for the sun to start setting and light up the red rocks. It was awesome!! Friday I FINALLY started feeling better so it made the day even better. We drove down to Canyonlands and did Elephant Hill. We've been on this trail tons of times but the Schears hadn't. Once you get back behind the actual hill, there is a gorgeous spot called Devils Kitchen that has some really fun rock climbing and mini slot canyons. Cory let me drive on the way back out of the trail. It was loads of fun. I'm usually spotting so driving was...awesome. Saturday, the Schears had to leave so we decided to try a harder trail since Cory's and Collin's Jeeps are more equipped. We went and did Poison Spider Mesa. We did this one last year but didn't get to finish it. I highly recommend this trail. The trail takes you to an arch and a little farther takes you to a breathtaking view of all of Moab. At the arch, we stopped and had lunch. Cory and I were sitting on some rocks when I spotting something coming at me out of the corner of my eye - it was a poison spider!!! I actually don't know if it was really poisonous, but if you're familiar with the area and with the brand Poison Spider, their logo has a spider that looked EXACTLY like the one coming at me. So who knows... After spending some time on this trail we started to head back. At about 3/4 of the way down the trail, a group caught up with us at an obstacle called the Waterfall. We stopped and watched them because the first jeep down the waterfall came VERY close to rolling, so we decided we wanted in on the action. Well, they all made it down safely. We kept going with them at our rear. Towards the end, we noticed the group had stopped at a particularly hard ledge. The first Jeep in their line looked broken down. Sure enough, the kid driving had popped out a spring. They didn't have a high lift so we went back to help them. Anyway, it turns out these people were from Syracuse and they came down to Moab with a family that Cory knows pretty well - he was on the dive team with them in High School. It's such a small world sometimes. After that trail we went shopping in town then ate dinner. Sunday we came home. It was a fantastic trip, one I know I really needed. Sorry for the picture overload, I actually have about a million more, but I'll post them on picasaweb tomorrow for those that want to see more. I'm too tired tonight. It was so much fun. Enjoy the pics!

HAHAHAHA This was our porta potty at our campsite. I LOVE the name!

This is the rear bumper Cory built. Looks awesome huh? Oh and he did the tire carrier too.

Just us

So the morning after Collin and my family arrived, we noticed something on Collin's Jeep. He had been working on his Jeep moments before they left and had left this tape dispenser on the roof. It made it the whole way to moab.

Us happy campers. Dwane is taking the picture.

This is when we pulled into Moab Wednesday night. We were so excited!!
Okay, so this picture is aweful! But notice the bump on my head. I wasn't being very vigilant while rock climbing and I smacked it on a cliff ledge. Ouch.
